Green Building Tax CreditIntroduction Maryland provides a tax credit for the construction of green building. The credit is worth up to 8% of the total cost of the building. Buildings must be located in a priority funding area and be at least 20,000 square feet. For a full list of the criteria see below: Green Building Criteria The tax credit is uses LEED 2.0, LEED 2.1, LEED-EB, LEED-CS and LEED-CI as standards for determining a green building. As additional standards are established MEA will adopt them for use with the tax credit. If you would like to bring attention to a new or alternate standard, please contact us. Information for Existing Initial Credit Certificate Holders Existing holders of an Initial Credit Certificate must receive a Final Credit Certificate by the expiration date listed on the Initial Credit Certificate. Credits from Initial Credit Certificates that expire will be made available to new applications. If you Initial Credit Certificate has expired, you must re-apply.
